DADT, Voyeurism Without Consent, and Sex Without Clear Consent: Where Curiosity Crosses the Line
Some sexual situations are not merely risky; they can violate trust, privacy, or consent. Adults must understand that silence, intoxication, secrecy, or an assumed agreement does not equal permission.
DADT arrangements
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell can appear to reduce conflict, but it often creates ambiguity and hidden risk. Without clear boundaries, testing agreements, safer-sex expectations, and the right to change one’s mind, resentment and betrayal can grow quickly.
Voyeurism without consent
Watching, recording, or distributing sexual images of someone without their knowledge and permission is a serious violation of privacy and may be illegal. Curiosity never authorizes surveillance or recording.
Sex without clear consent
If a person is asleep, heavily intoxicated, unconscious, intimidated, or otherwise unable to make a free decision, do not proceed. Stop and wait for clear, enthusiastic, ongoing consent.
Direct advice
When consent is uncertain, the answer is no. Leave, ask clearly, and respect the response.
